SaffronAnalyst 5.2: Unlocking the Value in Data
An Interview with Software Developer Jared Peterson
Jared Peterson is Senior Engineer at North Carolina-based Saffron
Technology, Inc. He’s also the leader of the web application development
team responsible for SaffronAnalyst™ Version 5.2. Mr. Peterson,
originally from Birmingham, Alabama, graduated from Auburn University
in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences. He started
his professional career at a voice-over-IP startup in California. Shortly
after the 2001 Internet bubble burst he moved to Atlanta’s SoftPro
Technologies where he primarily focused on DARPA (the Federal Government’s
Defense Advanced Research Project Agency) related programs. It was through
his work as SoftPro that he came in contact with Saffron Technology.
He’s been with the company since 2004. In this interview with
Mr. Peterson, he talks about Saffron Technology, SaffronAnalyst 5.2,
and how the role of the intelligence analyst is changing.
Toby Younis: Good afternoon, Jared. What can you tell us about Saffron
Technology, Inc.?
Jared Peterson: Saffron Technology is a dynamic software company centered
on great intellectual property related to associative memories and natural
analytics. Although associative memories aren't anything new, the ability
to store and query them is. And, we believe our core technology enables
analysts to do things that other products can’t. We’re building
a company around those new ideas.
Toby Younis: Before we get on to the rest of the interview, will
you please tell us what Saffron means by “natural analytics?”
Jared Peterson: Natural analytics is a process based on a system
that reads, remembers, and recalls all your information no matter how much
information you have. It’s like a very smart assistant, doing all the
work for you. You ask it questions, it gives you answers. If you ask it additional
questions, it gives you more answers. It remembers all your questions and
answers. Before long, it starts telling you things you didn’t know that
you didn’t know. That’s where it’s the most powerful. Since
it’s doing all the front-end work for you, you have time to consider
what you’re going to do with all this new knowledge it’s provided.
That’s natural analytics.
Toby Younis: Today, we're going to talk about the latest release
of SaffronAnalyst. What release is it, and how much can you tell us about
it?
